A recent story from KBZK Bozeman (Scripps News) highlights how Lattice Materials, a TPC brand specializing in custom-grown silicon and germanium crystals and machined components, will drive local economic growth through a new 80,000-square-foot facility. Expected to break ground this spring in Bozeman, Montana, Lattice’s expansion is anticipated to create 50 high-wage jobs and significantly increase production capacity. The new facility will be completed in 2027.

Beyond facilitating local economic development, the expansion will support the growing demand for critical infrared products while strengthening domestic supply chains on a national scale.

“Believe it or not, Bozeman and Montana in general have kind of emerged as an epicenter for photonics and quantum technologies,” said Travis Wood, President of Lattice Materials.

Supported in part by an $18.5 million investment from the U.S. Department of War, the project is designed to strengthen the availability of critical materials used in advanced infrared and imaging technologies for the defense industry.

Lattice’s expansion reflects broader momentum across the aerospace & defense manufacturing sector, as companies invest in scaling capabilities, securing critical materials and supporting mission-critical innovation for emerging technologies.
