The Partner Companies tap Travis Wood to lead Lattice Materials

Wood will help grow Lattice Materials’ global leadership in silicon and germanium crystal production serving the defense, technology and broader commercial industries.

Bozeman, Mont., Sept. 07, 2023 Lattice Materials (Lattice), a member of The Partner Companies (TPC), announces Travis Wood as general manager.

Lattice is an advanced manufacturing leader that specializes in manufacturing mission-critical custom infrared optics in silicon and germanium. Additionally, Lattice produces thin film materials, laser mirrors and semiconductor parts. Lattice serves top defense, technology, security, research and renewable energy companies with finished lenses, optical blanks, precision optical curve generation, high-precision polishing.

As one of the only U.S.-based companies in the world capable of custom-growing optical silicon and germanium crystals and manufacturing the materials into custom-designed, highly precise products, Lattice is a preferred global partner for the most difficult and high-risk projects. Further, Lattice is adept at manufacturing solutions using these rare crystals in hard-to-find sizes, unique orientations, custom electrical resistivity and special optical transmissions for defense, technology and additional industries.

Lattice is a proud member of TPC, a global diversified manufacturing company that creates specialty technical products to innovators in the aerospace, defense, clean energy, medical, technology, and telecom industries. Lattice is one of 10 operating companies within TPC. TPC supports each member entity with expertise in business growth, finance, human resources and supply chain management.

“Travis joins Lattice Materials at an opportune time in the industry when there is growing demand for the specialized manufacturing solutions that Lattice provides,” remarked Scott Bekemeyer, TPC co-chairman and founder. “Under his leadership, Lattice will continue to grow as a world leader in providing mission-critical solutions made to help solve pain points in the defense and broader commercial industries.”

Lattice is in a unique market position to address headwinds in niche global supply chains with new export restrictions on gallium and germanium from China, and the accelerated reshoring of specialized and rare manufacturing facilities to the United States.

“I am excited to join and help lead the world-class Lattice Materials team,” said Wood. “There is significant opportunity for us to scale our operations, deepen our service to existing and new valued partners and capture the growth opportunity ahead by providing custom mission-critical solutions with flawless precision.”

With 20 years of experience growing and scaling advanced manufacturing companies, Wood will bring his managerial expertise to standardize processes, drive innovation and deepen core defense services while exploring diversified commercial opportunities.

In prior roles, Wood has led as CEO, president and vice president of advanced manufacturing organizations who serviced the aerospace, defense, electric power, electronics, industrial, oil and gas, plastics and additional industries. Wood received an MBA from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut.
